Good words satisfy like a fine meal; yes, good conversations are sure to satisfy.
Proverbs 18:20 Voice
Developing deep friendships starts with good conversations.
Like Proverbs 18 says, these conversations satisfy a need in our soul.
When pursuing a relationship with God, we need spiritual friends to influence us, challenge us, and ask us the right questions to help us grow. We also need to learn how to become the kind of friends who influence others for the better through connecting conversations.
As iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion].
Proverbs 27:17 – Amplified Bible
The Bible says that we grow and become sharpened when we engage in discussion with our friends and allow our relationships to influence us.
But sometimes, it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve put together a fun, Jeopardy-style conversation starter toolkit, with questions you can answer with your friends to get to know each other and yourselves better.
We put these questions in the following categories:
- Cultural – Understanding where we come from helps us better understand who we are now.
- Emotional – Knowing and sharing what we feel helps us be aware of what we are bringing into relationships.
- Intellectual – Recognizing and sharing our thought processes behind what we do helps us understand each other better.
- Spiritual – Sharing with each other how we view God and the world around us helps us learn how we can influence each other to grow spiritually.
You can pick which questions you’d like to answer to your friends, or pick a question you’d like to know about someone else – whatever helps you and your friends know each other better and engage in deeper discussions.
The points don’t matter, because when you’re having good conversations, everyone’s a winner!
