We are excited to introduce to you a brand new series of devotionals, videos, and podcast episodes we are calling Fearless.

Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character.
Psalm 105:19 NLT

Everyone wants to see their dreams come true. The challenge is whether we have the character to see them fulfilled. Without character, dreams stay fantasies. The studies to follow are intended to expose and reveal the areas for growth in our character that keep us from reaching the destiny God wants us to have.

But what is character?

Character

Character marks who we are as a person. It’s what will either keep us grounded when something hard happens, or what abandons us at the sight of possible difficulty if we have not built it up. Having good character is what makes us reliable, confident, and secure no matter our circumstances. It’s what helps us be a great friend that always believes, keep trying even when it seems like we’ve failed too many times, and stay strong when the pressures of life seem too much to handle. Character is who we are when no one is watching. Most importantly, character is something we build, not something we are born with. God helps us build our character no matter where we’re at.

How do we get it?

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. [4] And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. [5] And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Romans 5:3-5 NLT

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
Helen Keller

We build character by fighting through the struggles, weaknesses, and sins we feel we can’t overcome. It’s on this journey that we can either choose to turn to God and overcome something impossible, or give up and accept defeat. But, if we choose to push through and let God change us from the inside out, a sense of confidence and courage develops. Nothing will scare us anymore because we know what it takes to get to the other side of fear and pain. The hope that God is fulfilling our dreams and guiding us toward our purpose is what motivates us to keep moving forward even when it’s hard. It’s having this kind of fighter’s faith that allows us to undergo and embrace all kinds of pains and trials when we understand that God is training us for a greater purpose.

The thought of building character can be daunting. We may begin to question whether it is worth the training, but you won’t be on the journey alone. The Fearless Series is a study series intended to be done with friends. A series focused on the different spiritual qualities that are required to build character in each other. It is challenging to want to step out from the crowd and truly grow and reach your spiritual potential. That is why it requires you to be Fearless.
