Episode notes
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.
Matthew 4:1 NLT
Did the Bible just say the Holy Spirit led Jesus to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil…on purpose? Why?
In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about one of the most necessary yet difficult parts of our spiritual lives: facing and defeating doubt. Doubt leads us to question ourselves, to question why we’re here, and to question whether we’re really loved.
When Jesus goes into the wilderness, he has to face these doubts too. But instead of giving up or running away, Jesus confronts these doubts head-on, and he comes out of this time of testing with power and confidence.
If we want to follow his example and do the same, we can—we just have to be willing to ask ourselves some deep questions, and listen to God instead of our doubts when we answer them:
- Who am I, and is that enough?
- Why am I here? What’s the point of my life?
- Am I really loved and cared for?
Check out this week’s Mini Quiet Time to learn from Jesus how to defeat your own doubts.
