Points made in the video

[17] When his people pray for help, he listens and rescues them from their troubles. [18] The LORD is there to rescue all who are discouraged and have given up hope. [19] The LORD’s people may suffer a lot, but he will always bring them safely through. [20] Not one of their bones will ever be broken.

Psalm 34:17-20 CEV

Understand and Identify

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and [6] my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you— even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar.

Psalm 42:6-7 NLT

4 States of Discouragement

On one of our Deep Spirituality Podcast episodes Choosing God: Defeating Discouragement, Part One they discuss The Four States of Discouragement which can help us to understand and Identify  Our Cycles of Sadness. In the podcast they talk about…

  1. Emotional Discouragement – the day to day obstacles, difficulties, and disappointments.
  2. Seasonal Discouragement– discouraging memories, surfaced by a specific time of year.
  3. Situational Discouragement – moments of relationship rejection, personal failure, or missed opportunities.
  4. Chronic Discouragement – a constant state of mental and emotional discouragement. It never goes away.

Trials Make You Stronger

For God alone, my soul waits in silence and quietly submits to Him, For my hope is from Him. [6] He only is my rock and my salvation; My fortress and my defense, I will not be shaken or discouraged.

Psalm 62:5-6 AMP

I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. [2] He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

Psalm 40:1-2 NLT

Trust In God

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD. [4] Oh, the joys of those who trust the LORD, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols. [5] O LORD  my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.

Psalm 40:3-5 NLT
