Settle in: Take a deep breath. Ask God to show you where your faith is strong, and where it needs strengthening.

Thought starter

Every day we have a choice: Will we live by our faith, or by our feelings? Feelings can lie to us, but faith in God keeps us steady.

Here’s what we’ll learn in this quick quiet time:

  • Faith is a lens that changes how we see things.
  • Faith is an action, not a passive idea.
  • Faith is a muscle that grows as we use it.

Faith Over Feelings 3

Faith is a lens, like glasses. It changes how you see your circumstances.

Read:

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

Hebrews 11:1 NLT

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

Jeremiah 17:9 ESV

For we live by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV

Truth bomb:

Feelings can lie. Faith anchors us in the truth.

  • Faith isn’t based on what we see or feel. It’s based on who God is.
  • Faith holds steady even when emotions don’t.

Reflect:

  • How often do I choose faith over my feelings, moods, impulses, or fears?
  • What are my signs that I’m seeing life through a lens of emotion rather than faith?

Pray:

Read this verse, and pray about how you can put God first over your feelings:

“What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need.”

Matthew 6:33 ERV

Faith Over Feelings 4

Faith is trust-in-action.

Read:

Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 NIV

Jesus answered, “Because your faith is too small. I tell you the truth, if your faith is as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. All things will be possible for you.

Matthew 17:20 NCV

… So let us run the race that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything that would get in the way and the sin that so easily holds us back. [2] Let us look only to Jesus, the One who began our faith and who makes it perfect.

Hebrews 12:1-2 NCV

Truth bomb:

Faith isn’t just blind positivity. It’s trusting in who God is.

  • Living by faith is like having a best friend who’s always there for you; you don’t need to see them 24/7 to know you can count on them.
  • Faith isn’t just for the easy days. It’s for moving mountains on the impossible days, too.
  • Faith is a daily decision to walk forward and follow Jesus even when the path is unclear.

Reflect:

  • Do I believe God is working, even if I don’t see the results?
  • What does active faith look like in my life today?

Pray:

Read this verse and pray about how your faith can grow through tests and troubles:

when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. [3] For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

James 1:2-3 NLT

Faith Over Feelings 5

Faith is a muscle that grows as you use it.

Read:

My brothers and sisters, if people say they have faith, but do nothing, their faith is worth nothing. Can faith like that save them?… [22] So you see that Abraham’s faith and the things he did worked together. His faith was made perfect by what he did.

James 2:14, 22 NCV

Jesus answered, “Have faith in God. [23] I tell you the truth. You can say to this mountain, ‘Go, fall into the sea.’ And if you have no doubts in your mind and believe that what you say will happen, God will do it for you. [24] So I tell you to believe that you have received the things you ask for in prayer, and God will give them to you.”

Mark 11:22–24 NCV

Faith comes from hearing the Good News, and people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ.

Romans 10:17 NCV

Truth bomb:

Your faith will shrink or grow based on how much you exercise it.

  • Our faith gets stronger every time we use it.
  • Our faith grows when we guard our hearts and minds from doubts and fears, and fill them with belief and Scriptures instead.

Reflect:

  • What voices or influences are weakening my trust in God?
  • What actions help me build stronger faith?

Write it down:

  • Write down one area where you want to trust God more.
  • Write down one scripture from today that strengthens your faith.
  • Write down one step of obedience you can take this week to live by faith.

Faith Over Feelings 6

Final thought.

Keep moving forward.

Faith whispers,
God is with me—even when I can’t see the way.”

Faith declares,
God is able—even when I feel weak.”

Faith chooses,
God is good—even when life feels unfair.”

🌱 Faith grows when it’s tested.
🛡️ Faith protects our hearts when doubt creeps in.
🔥 Faith moves mountains while fear says, “Stay put.”
