Episode notes

One of the many great things about having a personal friendship with God is that he satisfies. We don’t have to keep chasing unreliable things like attention, approval, or achievement to make us happy—we have a source of security and love in our lives that won’t change, on our good days or our bad days. To learn more about how to build this kind of secure, satisfying friendship with God, listen to this Scripture Playlist episode about how God is enough for us.

The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace near the quiet brook of bliss. That’s where he restores and revives my life. He opens before me the right path and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness so that I can bring honor to his name.

Psalm 23:1-3 TPT

Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. [14] But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water [satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life.”

John 4:13-14 AMP

LORD, I cry out to you for help: “You are my place of safety. You are all I need in life.”

Hebrews 13:5 CEV

I’m not saying this because I’m in any need. I’ve learned to be content in whatever situation I’m in. [12] I know how to live in poverty or prosperity. No matter what the situation, I’ve learned the secret of how to live when I’m full or when I’m hungry, when I have too much or when I have too little. [13] I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:11-13 GW

For all my wanting, I don’t have anyone but You in heaven. There is nothing on earth that I desire other than You. [26] I admit how broken I am in body and spirit, but God is my strength, and He will be mine forever.

Psalm 73:25-26 Voice

As for me, all I need is to be close to God. I have made the Lord GOD my place of safety. And, God, I will tell about all that you have done.

Psalm 73:28 ERV

Just thinking of my troubles and my lonely wandering makes me miserable. [20] That’s all I ever think about, and I am depressed. [21] Then I remember something that fills me with hope. [22] The LORD’s kindness never fails! If he had not been merciful, we would have been destroyed. [23] The LORD can always be trusted to show mercy each morning. [24] Deep in my heart I say, “The LORD is all I need; I can depend on him!”

Lamentations 3:19-24 CEV

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. [5] You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.

Psalm 131:1-2 GNT

Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ [9] and to know that I belong to him. I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ.

Philippians 3:8-9 CEV

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. [4] So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
