Episode notes

Endurance is one of the most important qualities Jesus had, and it’s one we should all learn to develop if we want to change the world the way he did. Pain makes us break down, and the pain that is most difficult to handle is the pain that comes from sin. Talking about sin not only releases us from its mastery over our lives, but also helps us develop the endurance to resist it. Jesus endured the pressures of sin, and we can learn from him how to do the same. Check out this episode of One Quick Thought to learn more about how Jesus changed the world.

Consider the life of the One who endured such personal attacks and hostility from sinners so that you will not grow weary or lose heart. [4] Among you, in your striving against sin, none has resisted the pressure to the point of death, as He did.

Hebrews 12:3-4 Voice

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

1 John 2:1 NLT

“It is man’s depraved and sinful nature that fills him with hate, envy, and jealousy. The curse of sin is upon his body and he is forever haunted by the fear of death. His inventive genius has enabled him to change everything but himself. For man, in spite of the loudly acclaimed ‘progress’ of our times, remains just as he was at the beginning…We’ve tried calling sin ‘errors’ or ‘mistakes’ or ‘poor judgment,’ but sin itself has stayed the same. No matter how we’ve tried to salve our conscience we’ve known all along that men are still sinners; and the results of sin are still disease, disappointment, disillusionment, despair, and death.”

Peace with God, Billy Graham

Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! [21] You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. [22] Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. [23] For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”

Acts 8:20-23 NIV
