Episode notes

Miracles of discovery are missed by those who lose God’s whisper in the noise.

We learn this from a man named Elijah in the Bible, who was tired, discouraged, and afraid. But then God showed up and renewed his strength—not through a roaring wind, earthquake, or fire, but through a gentle and quiet whisper.

… A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper. When Elijah heard the quiet voice, he muffled his face with his great cloak, went to the mouth of the cave, and stood there. A quiet voice asked, “So Elijah, now tell me, what are you doing here?”

1 Kings 19:11-13 MSG

God will speak to us too—to renew our strength and vision—but we must have the courage to quiet the noise and listen for him.

Let’s listen to this Spiritual Playlist to quiet the noise in our lives so that we can hear God.

Scriptures to Quiet the Noise 1

We hear God when we choose to be still.

Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among all the nations. I am honored over all the earth.”

Psalm 46:10 Voice

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. [29] Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST (renewal, blessed quiet) FOR YOUR SOULS. [30] For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 AMP

This is what the Almighty LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: You can be saved by returning to me. You can have rest. You can be strong by being quiet and by trusting me…

Isaiah 30:15 GW
