While he was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.” [36] But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.”

Mark 5:35-36 NLT

Everybody has it—the quiet voice in our head that tells us there’s no use trying anymore.

You’ve tried before, it says.

Sure, there may be hope for other people, it acknowledges, but not for you.

Stop fighting. This is the best it’s going to get.

Too many of us believe that there are things about ourselves that will never change—that we have lost the battle too many times and that there are some things we just need to accept.

But Jesus tells us a different story.

Yes, at times things seem hopeless, but they’re not. Don’t be afraid, he says. Just have faith

The psychology of walking with God is about how God changes our well-being from the inside out. Because of our faith, any paralyzing patterns and the frustrating pain can be healed and transformed—if we have the courage to take off our masks, let down our walls, and rely on God’s power rather than our own.

I begged the Lord three times to take this problem away from me. [9] But the Lord said, “My grace is all you need. Only when you are weak can everything be done completely by my power.” So I will gladly boast about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can stay in me.

2 Corinthians 12:8-9 ERV

God’s Spirit is powerful, and it produces limitless superpowers in our lives that we could never muster up on our own. In fact, sometimes the moments we feel most powerless, the moments we  feel like we’re failing miserably, are exactly the moments that make us realize our need for God.

Which superpower do you need?

But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.

Galatians 5:22-23 TPT

In The Chemistry Lab, we recently discovered that Christians can have superpowers—supernatural abilities listed in Galatians 5:22-23 that transform us from the inside out and help us calm and conquer our storms rather than just trying to survive them. Each one is matched with one of the Avengers to give us a vision of the kind of power we can have when God’s Spirit supercharges our lives.

This is a vision that everyone needs—the belief that it’s not hopeless, that whatever internal storm or external obstacle we’re facing is not too hard for God.

So what superpower do you need in your life? Who will you become when you let your walls down and let God’s power in? What will you conquer? What will you overcome?

Take our quiz to find out! Your results will give you a set of Avengers who had the specific superpowers you need and will direct you to one of The Chemistry Lab editions that will best meet you where you’re at today.

God sees in you the potential to develop the supernatural power of kindness, which includes building relationships and seeing the best in people.

This power transforms everything else in our lives—transforms enemies into friends, hatred into forgiveness, insecurity into confidence, and brokenness into wholeness.

With this supernatural power, you’ll find your purpose alongside other spiritual friends who empower each other to move forwards towards God’s destiny.

How to develop this superpower:

    • Pray: “God, I can’t produce kindness in my own strength, just like Captain Marvel couldn’t save the world without her power. Today I’m admitting my weakness and asking your Spirit to flow through me. Give me kindness in action.
  • Throughout the day: When storms hit, think: “What would Captain Marvel do?” Then practice this three-step pattern:
    • Admit weakness: “This is too big for me in my own strength.”
    • Ask for the superpower: “God, I need kindness right now.”
    • Act like your Avenger: Take one small action as if kindness is already working through you—the way Captain Marvel would respond.
  • Evening: Text or call your friend. Answer one question: “Did I become the spiritual Captain Marvel today—even a little?” Share what happened (or didn’t happen). Pray together for 2 minutes.
