How Do I Get Lasting Confidence?

Their confidence hangs by a thread. They are leaning on a spider’s web. [15] They cling to their home for security, but it won’t last. They try to hold it tight, but it will not endure.

What do you rely on to feel confident? If it’s something shakeable—like ourselves, our abilities, or other people’s opinions—we will feel fragile and insecure. The council members were astonished as they witnessed the bold courage of Peter and John, especially when they discovered that they were just ordinary men who had never had religious training. Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with him.

[30] Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” [31] After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
