About the study

Settle in: Take a deep breath. Turn off notifications on your phone if you can. Ask God to help you see Jesus clearly today—not just as a teacher or savior, but as the full expression of who God is. Ask God to soften your heart to walk like Jesus and become a true friend of God through Jesus.

Scripture reflection

Read Hebrews 1:3 slowly. Then read it again:

The Son reflects the glory of God and shows exactly what God is like. He holds everything together with his powerful word. When the Son made people clean from their sins, he sat down at the right side of God, the Great One in heaven.

Hebrews 1:3 NCV

Let this truth sink in: Jesus isn’t just like God—he is God revealed. Here’s what you’ll learn in this Quick Quiet Time:

  • Just as a mirror shows us our face, Jesus shows us what God is like. Through Jesus, we can see God’s love, power, mercy, and truth.
  • Every word he spoke, every step he took, and every person he touched was God in motion.
  • Jesus is how we can see who God is.

Jesus Is God’s Mirror 3

Jesus is the mirror to knowing God.

Read:

Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me. [9] … Whoever has seen me has seen the Father…”

John 14:6,9 NCV

Jesus said, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” That means we don’t have to guess what God is like, even though we can’t see him.

  • To know Jesus is to know God intimately, like a best friend.
  • Jesus didn’t just teach the truth—he was the truth.

Jesus Is God’s Mirror 4

Jesus is the bridge to being friends with God.

Read:

No one can see God, but Jesus Christ is exactly like him. He ranks higher than everything that has been made.

Colossians 1:15 NCV

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

John 15:15 NIV

Truth bomb:

Jesus didn’t just come to save us. He came to invite us into friendship with God.

  • Jesus walked in perfect unity with the Father, and now he invites us to walk with him.
  • Walking with Jesus doesn’t mean distant religion. It means personal friendship.
  • Friendship with God begins with following Jesus. Following Jesus means reflecting his character in our choices and our relationships.

In the real world:

When you feel distant from God, remember—Jesus is the bridge.

  • When you feel confused about who God is, look at Jesus.
  • When you feel unworthy, remember Jesus calls you his friend.
  • Walking like Jesus isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection.

Reflect:

  • What does it mean to you that Jesus is the exact likeness of God?
  • How does Jesus’s life challenge or inspire the way you live?
  • What part of Jesus’s character do you want to reflect more?
  • Do you see yourself as God’s friend—or just his follower?

Write it down:

  • Write down one way Jesus has shown you the heart of God.
  • Write down one area where you want to walk more like Jesus.
  • Choose one verse that remind s you of your friendship with God.

Closing prayer

“Thank you God for Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Help me walk like you—full of forgiveness, truth, and love. I want to know you more deeply and reflect you more clearly. Thank you for calling me your friend. Help me live like I believe it. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.”

Bonus challenge (for the day):

  • Pick one way Jesus walked—maybe in humility, forgiveness, or boldness—and practice it today.
  • Text a friend and share how you want to be like Jesus more.
